ENERGY STAR AWARDED TO THE SCANPRO® 2000
HARTFORD, Wis. – e-Image Data’s ScanPro® 2000 has been awarded the Energy Star, making it the only microfilm scanning equipment listed by Energy Star as meeting today’s strict energy efficiency requirements.
“The ScanPro 2000 was designed from the bottom up to be energy efficient,” says James Westoby, President, e-Image Data. “The illumination system is hundreds of times more efficient than typical lamps used in other equipment.” Its electronic components were selected for low power consumption and a special surface mount design was incorporated to minimize power usage. Additionally, when components are not required to be operational, they turn off automatically to save even more energy. “That is why the ScanPro 2000 has the reputation as the energy miser,” says Westoby.
Not only does the ScanPro 2000 have a green, energy-saving design, it also meets the strict requirements for the avoidance of materials that have been identified as harmful to the environment. This strict RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliance includes all parts, assemblies and processes used in the manufacture of the ScanPro 2000. “RoHS compliance is rapidly becoming a standard around the world for products designed to be environmentally friendly,” says Westoby. “Since the ScanPro 2000 is sold internationally, we felt it was imperative that the product adhere to the highest standards available.”
Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, which helps Americans save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices. According to the EPA, if all imaging equipment sold in the U.S. met Energy Star requirements, we would prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of about 4 million vehicles.
“Results are already adding up,” according to the Energy Star web site. “Americans, with the help of Energy Star, saved enough energy in 2008 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 29 million cars — all while saving $19 billion on their utility bills.”
