Milton House Museum in Wisconsin was our featured library of the week last week.
They
are really more of a museum and historical center than a library but they offer
some amazing events and activities to their community. In addition to hosting
Civil War Living History Days they are actively preserving the history of the
building, which was built in 1844 as a stagecoach inn. The biggest piece of
history though would likely be that the Milton House was a stop on the
Underground Railroad and visitors are still able to walk through the tunnel
that was used to help fugitive slaves escape to freedom. This is an amazing
place to visit and a true gem for their community!
