ScanPro Performance

Not only do the ScanPro® microfilm scanners have features that benefit librarians and patrons by making it easy to use many different microform types, it also has features that benefit the way the user works with those different microform types. This makes research and lookups easy and fast.

At e-ImageData we are proud to offer many exceptional features on our ScanPro scanners. These features provide the benefits of speed, convenience, and ease-of-use to researchers, genealogists and occasional users of microfilm. Following are some of the many features that make our ScanPro products perform better than anything else in the microfilm industry.

Continual Image Focus Technology (we call this FOCUS-Lock™)

Continual image focus technology (FOCUS-Lock) provides continual image focus – even during optical zoom. This exceptional feature works without any operator intervention making research faster, easier, and more efficient. FOCUS-Lock is standard on ALL ScanPro microfilm scanners.

26 Megapixel Camera

The ScanPro 3500, with its 26 megapixel camera1, is the highest resolution microfilm scanner in the industry and provides the clearest image. This high-resolution camera ensures that you have the best image clarity in applications where legibility and readability of small text and fine details is required.

Optical Zoom Magnification of 5X to 105X

The ScanPro single zoom magnification feature provides the highest optical zoom magnification of any microfilm scanner on the market. This single lens covers all the film magnifications for any film application, even ultra-fiche and large-format images (35mm to 48mm image capture). In addition to having a single optical zoom lens that covers all magnifications, this optical lens provides the additional benefit of being able to read small text and examine fine details on your microfilm image. No other microfilm scanner on the market can provide these magnification capabilities.

When text and pictures are on the same film image, it is common to find the pictures too dark to view when the text is adjusted for best readability. The SPOT-Edit feature addresses this issue and allows users to edit ONLY the areas that they select while leaving the remaining areas unchanged. The user can select as many different areas as needed and adjust each independently. Our customers refer to this as the "must have feature".

"The SPOT-Edit feature is fantastic. We were recently working with a microfiche where the top row of images was a 1/3 dark with a hue over it and we couldn't read it at all. We used the SPOT-Edit button and viola, it lightened the image and the data pulled right through for a viewable image. It was amazing!"

-Lynn Peavler, Exelon Corp

The AUTO-Adjust feature is a single button that automates steps frequently used when a patron is working with microfilm. The AUTO-Adjust feature will examine the current microfilm image shown on the monitor and will automatically adjust image brightness and image contrast for the best viewable image. It will straighten the image if it is not straight and it will fit the “crop box” around the image, making the image ready for the patron to just click to scan or print the final image seen on the monitor. AUTO-Adjust is easy-to-use and fast to operate and is a favorite for researchers and occasional users alike. Our customers refer to this exceptional feature as the “magic button”.

PowerScan Productivity Suite (OCR Tools)

The ScanPro OCR features for microfilm are powered by ABBYY Fine Reader. This world class OCR software is consistently picked by researchers for accuracy and speed. We have licensed the ABBYY Fine Reader engine and integrated it into the ScanPro software to bring you powerful, easy to use features for working with microfilm. This software lets users have access to microfilm with unlimited OCR features: WORD-Search, INFO-Link, copy selected areas as text to your "clipboard", and create single or multi-page word searchable PDF's. These powerful OCR features are bundled together as a single software package presented as the PowerScan Productivity Suite (PPS). These features work with the "live image" that you see "right on the view screen" making OCR conversion more accurate and very fast!

WORD-Search™ - Find words right on your microfilm image without having to read through the entire page. Just enter the word that you are looking for in the search box and if it is on the microfilm, it will be highlighted everywhere it appears.

INFO-Link™ - Use INFO-Link to get more information about what you see on your microfilm. Just click to highlight a word or words and then select the internet reference source that you want to use like Wikipedia, a thesaurus, or a dictionary.

Copy-to-Clipboard -Select information that you see on your microfilm image and copy it to the clipboard as editable text for pasting into any document or presentation.

Word Searchable PDF - With a single click you can convert multiple microfilm images to a multi-page word searchable PDF.

1The ScanPro 3500 high performance, pixel-shifting camera produces the clearest image in the microfilm industry. Pixel-shifting is a state-of-the-art technology being used by some of the best known and respected manufactures in the camera industry like Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, Leica, Zeiss, Pentax, Lumix and many others. Although e-ImageData is not the first manufacturer to use pixel-shifting, we are the first and the only manufacturer in the micrographics industry to use this advanced technology to capture higher megapixel images. Using pixel shifting, e-ImageData starts with its largest image sensor in the industry (10.5mm x 7.328mm, 3.5µm 2 pixel, 6.6 megapixel sensor) to capture and integrate 4 unique optical images into a single 26 megapixel camera image, the clearest image in the industry.
